Alley Oop minor character

Was there ever a character in Alley Oop by the name of "Doots" (could be spelled differently)? That was my nickname when I was a child, and was always told that an uncle thought I looked like a character with that name from Alley Oop comic strip.

My first thought was yes, but trying to pinpoint it, I realized I was thinking of Princess Wootietoot. Sorry. I'm pretty sure I recall the name, but can't place it.
I did a Google search on "alley oop" + doots, but had to exclude "boots" and "doors" before the results got meaningful. And all I found was -- you've asked this question before. (No, wait -- I also found Yahoo doesn't seem to care for it, because they've deleted it a couple of times, but that's not very helpful, is it?)
I'm racking my brain, trying to think of it, but maybe someone else will chime in with the answer. What time frame are we looking at?
