Don, as I mentioned to your wife at a recent poker tourney, I'd like to request an article on the ACG title, Cookie. Your article on ACG simply mentions that Cookie was "Archie-style teenage humor". While the series was clearly inspired by the success of Archie, Cookie has a charm all its own.
Don't take my word for it. Although the series last saw publication over 50 years ago, it has been rediscovered thanks to (cough, cough) scanners. Sherm Cohen, a storyboard artist for Spongebob Squarepants, has done three posts on Cookie in the last six months:

Like Cohen, I was a fan almost as soon as I saw these comics:

John K, another cartoonist, has a terrific piece on Dan Gordon, Cookie's primary artist:

More discussion of Gordon, who worked at Fleisher Studios and worked on the extraordinary Superman cartoons of the 1940s:

Hope this encourages you to look into publishing a full-length piece on Cookie and his friends! And if you need the source material:

All 55 issues. :)
Thanks!

You make a strong case, Pat. (At least, I assume you're Pat -- GiGi hasn't met all that many comics guys among the poker players she hangs out with.) Cookie isn't all that major a character, but God knows I've written up smaller ones.
Isn't Dan Gordon also credited with creating The Flintstones? I've liked what I've seen of his art in places like Jingle Jangle Comics, and what you've shown of Cookie looks good too. I'll look over those downloads, and there's a very good possibility I'll find inspiration there, and write the article you're asking for in the near-to-middlin' future.
Quack, Don

Apparently, you talked me into it. I just now posted my article on Cookie.

My pleasure, Pat.
But -- you wanted to spread the word!!? Don't you know that drives up prices? For years, we managed to keep [Thirteen Going on Eighteen] to ourselves. It was guys wanting to spread the word that brought prices in line with John Stanley's other work.
