I have a pencil topper that is a blue cat - it says 1978,81 UFS on the back. I was sure there was a blue cat that was in the Garfield comic strip, but I can't fine it on google or wikipedia. He is in the style of Garfield. Does anyone know of a blue cat that United Features Sydicate produced? thank you for any help.

Not me. But if it's only a pencil drawing, how do you know it's blue? Color is added to these things only when they're printed. (Blue pencils are sometimes used in that stage, but that has nothing to do with the color the reader sees.)
Since there's no way to tell what color the cat will be printed, I'd suggest that it might actually be Garfield. But that can't be, if it was in the shape of a topper, because Garfield didn't star in one. Or maybe it was a daily strip?

I had the impression that the "pencil topper" in question was something that you could stick on the end of a pencil - like an eraser, but shaped like a cat, and blue. Maybe it's a mis-colored Garfield?

Boy, sometimes you get immersed in the jargon and forget what words mean in the outside world. Thanks, Rob. You're undoubtedly right.

Could it possibly be Nermal- the "world most perfect kitten"? And, a major pain to Garfield.

Could be. I'm not a regular reader (tho I know lots of very intelligent people who are). Is Nermal blue?
