I finally saw one of those, and honestly I'm in awe of how bad it was. Everything was done so poorly it almost seems like it was done on purpose. Really, a wolf trying to steal tomatoes? And everything was so strange from the odd voices, music, and backgrounds.
Of course after seeing one of them I really want to see them all. For whatever reason I've never been able to tear myself away from bad cartoons. Perhaps it's from watching so many of them when I was a kid. Anyway, those cartoons really are something to see.
You weren't kidding about Bucky and Pepito!

I know the feeling. Like everybody else, I have an urge to gaze at the carnage when driving past a traffic accident. But I do resist. Same with train wrecks. And if a space shuttle were to crash across the street, I think I could tear myself away from that, too.
But this thing, I can't take my eyes off of. I assume you saw it on one of Jerry Beck's DVDs. You're not likely to find it anywhere but in a "best of the worst" collection. But hoo boy, that awful thing stands out even there, doesn't it? When I told old pal Harry McCracken I was quoting him, he thought I meant from his Scrappy.com, the world's best source of detailed info about that character. But no -- I just couldn't resist putting quote marks around a passage from his review of Bucky & Pepito.
But those backgrounds sure are pretty, aren't they?

Actually I saw one on youtube along with a Paddy the Pelican. I don't really recall the backgrounds standing out that much, but I guess you gotta look really hard to find anything positive about this one. The backgrounds were better than a Devlin cartoon or something like that though. Paddy the Pelican might have even been worse. I could probably write a whole book about it. Did the voice actors even watch the cartoons? I can't even talk about it right now. It was that incredible.

YouTube! Of course! Boy, there's a Web application that's touched all our lives. I've even used images that I got from screen-capturing stuff off of it.
Paddy the Pelican, huh? Is this something I should know about?

If you enjoy bad cartoons than you should certainly check out some Paddy the Penguin. There's simply nothing else like them. They are practically pencil tests, and they have just about the worst voice acting I've ever heard. It makes those early Fleischer Talkartoons seem well synced by comparison.

Sounds dreadful! I'll take a look, if I happen to think of it during a break from work today.

Just keep in mind that he's a pelican and not a penguin. I keep getting the two mixed up.

No problem. I grew up in Southern Louisiana, where pelicans are local wildlife. I hope never to live in an area where penguins are local wildlife.

I've got loads of pet peeves (like when reporters say the "suspect" grabbed the cash and fled. But that's what the criminal did. The suspect is the guy that gets accused of the crime, not necessarily the one who did it. That's why they call him "suspect" -- he's only suspected of having done it. For stating that he did it, before he's tried and convicted, they ought to get sued.
